SETON AUSTRALIA - COMMITTED TO THE ENVIRONMENT

Seton is committed to reducing our environmental footprint and to building a sustainable future. This commitment applies to all areas of our business from our catalogue production & mailings to the way we produce our signs & labels. Our goal is to make it easy for you to access the widest and most comprehensive range of safety products in Australia, while being environmentally responsible and ethical in our business practices. The following information gives you an insight into some of these practices.

     CATALOGUE PRODUCTION & DISTRIBUTION.

    How is our Catalogue Produced?

Many people have the perception that print media such as catalogues is an old, dated and environmentally unfriendly method of communicating to customers. In fact, “the print industry is 95% less damaging to the environment today than it was in 1990”. Advances in areas such as digital print technology and refining other print processes have made this possible. Some electronic devices can omit more carbon emissions than it takes to produce a catalogue. (Source: Paper, Packaging & Forestry Products, Stora Enso, April 2008)

The Seton catalogue is produced by using efficient printing technology. Our print supplier is an ISO 14001 Environmental Management certified company. This accreditation means that all printing processes must meet the strict environmental standards of the International Standards Organisation and include areas such as sourcing paper from recycled/sustainable sources, recycling water and the effective handling and treatment of waste & energy consumption. See below for more information on ISO 14001:2004.

    What Paper do we Use?

Seton places a strong importance in sourcing paper for our catalogues made from recycled paper and other sustainably managed paper materials. As mentioned above, we work closely together with our print supplier to ensure that the above environmental standard is met.

How do we Distribute our Catalogues?

    catalogue

Seton makes every effort to ensure that our database is kept as clean and up to date as possible so that we are mailing catalogues to the right contacts in your company. We also recognise that people move on or perhaps may no longer wish to receive catalogues as often or to have their names removed from our mailings. In addition to adhering to Australian privacy laws, Seton has various mail preferences options available so you can choose how often you would like to receive a catalogue. By keeping our database clean, we can ensure that we reduce the number of wasted catalogues which will help improve the environment.

Please keep us informed with staff changes within your company so we only send as many catalogues as you need. Contact our customer service department on 1800 284 268 or visit www.seton.net.au/mymail

    Environmental & Continuous Improvement Policies

Seton has environmental and continuous improvement policies within our own facility to maximise best practice standards by improving/streamlining production processes, reducing the amount of raw materials used, effective waste management and recycling programs.

Seton also utilises efficient digital print technology in the manufacturing of our signs to reduce waste & energy consumption, without compromising on quality. Our polypropylene signs are now made from at least 50% recycled material, which uses 97% less energy to manufacture. All these factors contribute to lower carbon emissions, less waste and a healthier environment.

    Sourcing Environmentally Friendly Products

Seton is committed to sourcing products that are environmentally sustainable. We are constantly looking for and adding new products that have either been made from recycled materials or are re-usable products. Look out for the Ecotip logo throughout our catalogue and see our Eco Friendly Guide on page 5 of our source book catalogue. The Slikstopper Mat is an example of a reusable eco-friendly product available from Seton.
