What is a Mandatory Sign?
Mandatory signs specify an instruction that must be carried out to vehicles, workers, visitors to sites and any other people that might need to know the instruction. These can be used in construction sites, building sites, mine sites and warehouses. Symbols (or pictograms") are depicted in white on a blue-coloured circular background. Sign wording is printed in black to give clear instructions. Often mandatory signs can be used in conjunction with other signs, traffic lights and bollards as visual communication to workers, drivers, pedestrians, visitors and people regarding risks.
When should foot protection be used?
If you are the employer, you are obliged to manage the risk of heavy metals or equipment in the area, falling or rolling objects, or objects that could pierce the sole of an employees footwear. Placing these signs around entry points to the areas will inform employees and workers of the risks and remind workers to wear boots or enclosed shoes.
